The Parrsborough Shore Historical Society held its' annual Dinner Theatre and Variety Show on June 28th, 2008. With over 120 in attendance, the event was sold out and raised substantial funds which will permit the Society to continue with its' efforts to improve the Ottawa House By-The-Sea Museum, restore the Ottawa House itself and to host public events at the Partridge Island Historic Site.
Some of the cast of the play presented The dinner theatre featured an original work by Bernice Byers, uniquely interpreted by The Hysterical Players and was a variation on the classic fairy tales of GoldiRedBearsHood with passing nods to Cinderalla, Snow White and Alice in Blunderland. It was a delightful presentation, accentuated by bursts of uncontrolled laughter from both audience and cast.
The cast stays the course, entertaining a sold out crowd. The play was followed by a Variety Show guided along by Master of Ceremonies Ken Snowdon, which featured a highly entertaining example of ensemble singing with tight harmonies by a trio labelled The Bad Boys (Kerwin Davison, Frank Hartman and Bob Jamieson), accompanied by Jeannie Trider; a presentation of show tunes by David Towns, with Joyce Murray providing an excellent accompaniment; and some solos, self accompanied, by Jeannie Trider, who was then joined by Bob Jamieson in some excellent renditions. David Howe and Timi Levy awed the audience with an incredible violin flute duet which had everyone on their feet at the conclusion of a stunning performance. Ken Snowdon presented his own unique take on "The Johnny Shirt" and while he prepared, Colin Curleigh substitute hosted by reciting some Ogden Nash poetry....in his own unique style. The evening concluded with a special visit to Parrsboro by "Elvis".... aka Frank Hartman. This was a highly successful venture by the Historical Society, enjoyed by all who attended and for which next years' event, planning has already commenced. Back |
