Geological History To understand the social human history of the Parrsboro region, or in fact that of any other area on the globe, it helps a great deal to have some basic knowledge of geology and the resulting formation of geographic features. Just as the great forces of plate tectonics, changing climates and time mold the physical world, they also mold the way humans live with those features. The past and present story of the people occupying the geographic region known as the Parrsborough Shore is greatly influenced by the legacy of its' geology. Here they were preceded by the physical history of a billion years of dramatic geological evolution. Here is evidenced the great rendering and splitting apart of ancient continents, the formation of large inland seas, deserts, volcanic eruptions, the first dinosaurs and at least three Ice Ages. It is, as the tourist brochures proclaim, "A Geologist and Rock Hound Paradise." The geological history and its' importance to the Parrsborough Shore has fortunately not been lost to local residents nor to the province of Nova Scotia. Located in Parrsboro is the Fundy Geological Museum, which represents and interprets not only local geology but that of all Nova Scotia.
