Maintenance Committee Report 2007

Once again we were able to do our own mowing thanks to the efforts of Frank Hartman, Kerwin Davison and Susan Clarke and her students.

The only 'grounds' project this summer was staking off the site of last years' archaeological dig with larger and stronger stakes.

Much of the building maintenance was done by Susan and her students. With their assistance the following was accomplished:
- One of the office/storerooms was converted into a Gift Shop with drywall, painting, repairs and shelving.
- Several doors were repaired and door locks installed
- The wheelchair ramp was rebuilt
- The middle and central halls were drywalled
- The old bathroom was stripped, repaired and converted into a store room
- All painting, with the exception of the Gift Shop and a bit on the front wall, was done by Susan and the students
- The basement was cleaned out and the old furnace and other junk was hauled away
- A rotten beam under the verandah was replaced
- Six new shutters were bought and installed on the front windows
- All front windows and doors were covered for the winter
- A donated computer desk was repaired and assembled

A contractor replaced rotted sills and installed new clapboards on the East end of the building. The contractor replaced the door sills and installed flashing under the three doors at the East end on the second floor.

The gyproc in the genealogy room is to be installed upon opening in the spring.

Thanks to everyone who donated time and/or materials. Volunteers included Ken Snowdon, Frank Hartman, Kerwin Davison, Bob Jamison, Rod Pettis and Ed Gilbert.
