Parrsborough Shore Historical Society
Genealogy, Research and Newsletter Committee Report 2007

Our genealogy room was active this past year, thanks to dedicated staff, and volunteers such as Linda Littlejohn, Joyce Canning, Marilyn Orr, Marilyn Skidmore and Ed Gilbert.
June Wagstaff, with help from Skills Link program participants, was able to work on the following projects:
- accessioning and updating family files and family book names
- accessioning and typing contents of the scrapbook collection
- typing and copying policies and registration forms for the genealogy room, and
- beginning the task of accessioning school registers, beginning with Advocate.

Family names that were researched included Crossman, Gillespie, Graham, Llewellyn, McAleese, Morrissey, Roberts, Taggart, Tyrell and Winters.

Conrad Byers and June Wagstaff completed the Archival Certificate Program offered by the Council of Nova Scotia Archives.

New additions to our website included research by David Towns on some of the artifacts excavated around Ottawa House and stories about ships built along the Parrsborough Shore by Ed Gilbert. Conrad Byers worked on updating the website's "History" pages.

With Conrad Byers as editor, we produced a newletter for our members, informing them of the activities of the Historical Society and the Ottawa House.

Thanks to everyone, staff and volunteers, for all their hard work and many hours spent to provide information and services for the community at large.
